Donate to Help Our Programming
As a dance organization that launched in 2020, we are so grateful to everyone who has helped our journey thus far. Although Chicago Movement Collective is still a relatively new name, the artists who started it are experienced in the Chicago dance community. CMC’s Story
In 2020, a collective of Chicago-based dance artists came together to create a new space for the Chicago dance community to come together. Chicago Movement Collective was born out of a desire to honor the legacy of this community by offering affordable, wholistic training for a new generation of dancers. In addition to our weekly schedule that offers a variety of classes, we also host master teachers in a variety of dance dialects, employ musical artists who help create an environment for artistic exploration, and provide a space that respects all bodies and the histories that have shaped their movement.
Thanks to previous support from the community, we have been able to grow and thrive. In our first four years, we have:
welcomed students into our Claire Bataille Legacy Program: a scholarship program designed for advanced pre-professional or early career dancers to train in a variety of dance dialects with some of the most qualified teachers in Chicago
partnered with Winifred Haun & Dancers and their third coast program to support students balancing training and company work
partnered with Roosevelt University, Momentum Coffee and Coworking, Beyond Horizons Performance, and Lawyers for the Creative Arts
settled into two studio homes: Definition Dance Academy on weekdays & The Chicago Academy for the Arts on weekends
continued to offer a full schedule of a variety of classes ranging in level, style, and length
We are so proud of how far we’ve come and look forward to continuing to serve the greater Chicago dance community!
