Mat Pilates increases the mind body connection through breath, core activation, and mindfulness. It challenges one’s strength and control while centering the body. This class is great for self-care, and could be used as a conditioning warm up before taking other classes as well.

 
 

Frances Whitford is a professional dancer who is passionate about the transformative powers of movement. Introduced to Pilates through dance cross training, Frances continues to practice to sustain mental and physical longevity. She received her teacher training through The Lab 500-HR Comprehensive Certification and is on staff at Resolve Pilates, Logan Square Pilates + Core Studio, and Chicago Movement Collective. Frances is an alum of the University of North Carolina School for the Arts and moved to Chicago in 2017 to continue her dance training for 3 years at the Hubbard Street Professional Program under the direction of Alexandra Wells. In addition to her performing and teaching careers, Frances co-founded Little Fire Artist Collective in the spring of 2020 and continues to perform, choreograph, facilitate multidisciplinary improvisational jams, co-produce shows, and manage the collective. She hopes each client leaves her class feeling calmer, centered, and more mobile than when they arrived.
